What is design?
Alright, if there's one project I'm genuinely proud to put out there, this video is it. For over a year, I've had this idea to create something that really speaks to creatives, something that makes us (or at least me) feel a bit proud of the work we do.
Proactive projects are a bit of a pickle. You get to build exactly what you want, which is awesome. But then there's no real deadline, and you're only accountable to yourself – which, let's be honest, can be a bit risky depending on personality.
There’s been so many firsts here for me.
I’m super used to reactive work. You know, the type where you film for a day and then hope for the best. With this? I wrote it from start to finish. Then rewrote it about five times.
We designed it first for the 'insta' format (1080x1350), which I initially wasn't thrilled about (I hope that’s still the good format for insta). Many many shots had to be tampered with, split or completely altered. But so is life on the socials.
And of course, working with people. This time it wasn’t just my head that was on the line, the last thing I wanted is for this to flop if Cali was the face of it.
For me, it's solid proof that I can take a script idea and see it all the way through to the end. Though, after watching every single version about 50 times, I almost threw in the towel. Glad I didn't.
